Pericardial fat

Pericardial fat refers to a thicker than usual layer of fat surrounding the outside of the heart. It is usually present adjacent to the bottom of the heart (resting on the diaphragm) and is commonly seen in overweight individuals who have or are developing metabolic syndrome (diabetes).*Prenuvo scans are not designed to evaluate the heart, however some cardiovascular condition can be detected.

Disclaimer: The condition listed on this page is an example of findings that may be identified through Prenuvo's MRI screenings. A Prenuvo scan is designed to help identify potential abnormalities that may warrant further evaluation and is not intended to diagnose disease or replace evaluation by a qualified healthcare provider, diagnostic testing, or guideline-recommended screening.
