Disclosures

The Prenuvo scan should not be considered as a replacement to any standard clinical guidelines-based screening for specific types of cancer or other health conditions. The Prenuvo scan is subject to the completion of an MRI safety assessment as well as a medical intake review by Prenuvo.  Please contact your own healthcare provider with any specific questions regarding your health or medical conditions.

As with any medical test, there are limitations, which make it impossible for the Prenuvo scan to detect all malignancies and disease conditions. It is also possible that there may be findings that upon further diagnostic testing are not significant or might not require immediate medical intervention.  Please see Prenuvo’s website for additional information about the scan.

There may be additional costs for diagnostic testing.  You are fully responsible for any costs related to the scan or additional diagnostic testing. There is no coordination between John Hancock and any health benefits you may receive from an insurance policy, health plan, or any other wellness programs you may be enrolled in.

John Hancock does not receive individual scan results from Prenuvo, nor does it know which customers have requested or taken the scan. For purposes of research, validation of assumptions and evaluation of future health and wellness offerings, John Hancock may receive aggregated and deidentified data from Prenuvo from time to time. Your results will have no impact on your current life insurance coverage. Like other medical tests you elect, a decision to take the Prenuvo scan, and the results of the scan, may need to be disclosed in a new application for insurance coverage, and thus could affect your access to future insurance coverage and the price of such coverage.

John Hancock is not an affiliate of Prenuvo. The Prenuvo scan is developed and administered by Prenuvo and its affiliated professional entities. John Hancock does not provide medical advice or guidance on further diagnostic testing or treatment following the Prenuvo scan, is not involved in the design or administration of the Prenuvo scan and is not responsible for the accuracy or performance of the Prenuvo scan.

At this time, John Hancock does not expect that it will be required to report the value of the Prenuvo test discount to the IRS as income to you.  This material does not constitute tax or legal advice and neither John Hancock nor any of its agents, employees or registered representatives are in the business of offering such advice.  You should consult your own tax professional.

Eligible members will receive a $500 discount off Prenuvo’s whole body MRI scan. (Normally $2,499, John Hancock Vitality members will pay $1,999).

Why is John Hancock offering discounted access to the Prenuvo scan?
John Hancock

Part of our commitment to John Hancock Vitality customers is to continuously grow and evolve the program to include the latest tools and technology that can empower them to make more informed decisions about their health. We do that by collaborating with like-minded companies who share our vision of helping people live longer, healthier, better lives.

We want to make eligible customers aware of the Prenuvo scan so that they can make an informed choice as to whether or not they want to take it. Should a customer receive a Prenuvo result that detects a medical condition, we hope they will seek timely, follow-up testing with their physician — possibly yielding an earlier diagnosis and more favorable long-term outcome.

Will John Hancock or Vitality receive individual Prenuvo MRI results?
John Hancock

No, neither John Hancock nor Vitality will receive any individual Prenuvo scan results. Additionally, individual test results will not be shared with reinsurers or customers’ producers.

How is John Hancock handling applications for future coverage after an insured has taken the Prenuvo scan?
John Hancock

It is our hope that receiving a Prenuvo result that detects a health concern will prompt our customers to seek timely, follow-up testing with their physician — possibly yielding an earlier diagnosis and more favorable long-term outcome for the individual.

Like other medical tests you elect, a decision to take the Prenuvo scan, and the results of the scan, may need to be disclosed in a new application for insurance coverage, and thus could affect your access to future insurance coverage and the price of such coverage.

How is Prenuvo different from other MRI scans?
John Hancock

Prenuvo provides whole body MRIs that are safe (no radiation), fast (diagnostic-quality imaging in less than an hour), and non-invasive (no injection of harmful dye). Prenuvo invests heavily in optimized hardware and develops its own software acquisition protocols. Beyond the images Prenuvo acquires, the radiology approach at Prenuvo is informed by the fact that they are evaluating patients holistically in a screening rather than a diagnostic context.

What if I have to cancel my appointment? Will I lose my discount? Can I get my money back?
John Hancock

Prenuvo has a three day cancellation policy, so as long as the eligible John Hancock Vitality member contacts Prenuvo more than three days before the scheduled scan, they can re-use their discount and reschedule their scan.

How accurate is the Prenuvo scan? Are false negatives possible?
John Hancock

The Prenuvo scan is subject to the completion of an MRI safety assessment as well as a medical intake review by Prenuvo.

If any, what are the safety risks associated with the Prenuvo scan?
John Hancock

Prenuvo scans utilize MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) technology, which is considered safe and non-invasive. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, Prenuvo scans do not use ionizing radiation, which eliminates the associated risks of radiation exposure. Additionally, Prenuvo scans do not require the injection of contrast agents, further minimizing potential risks.

There are safety considerations to be aware of, particularly for individuals with medical implants or devices that may be affected by the strong magnetic fields generated during the MRI scan. It's important for patients to indicate to Prenuvo any medical implants or devices they may have during the pre-scan process and prior to undergoing their scan. Eligible Vitality members should always seek the advice of their own medical professionals.

Is Prenuvo FDA approved?
John Hancock

Prenuvo uses FDA-approved devices.

How will customers know they are eligible?
John Hancock

Eligible customers will be notified by John Hancock via email and will include a link to a request form so that Prenuvo can contact the customer to confirm eligibility and schedule the scan.

Do eligible customers have to take the Prenuvo scan?
John Hancock

No, this is an optional program feature, available to those who choose to learn more about their personal health. Choosing not to take the test will not have any impact on the customer’s current coverage.

Can the Prenuvo results be used against the customer’s existing policy?
John Hancock

Your results will have no impact on your current life insurance coverage. Like other medical tests you elect, a decision to take the Prenuvo scan, and the results of the scan, may need to be disclosed in a new application for insurance coverage, and thus could affect your access to future insurance coverage and the price of such coverage.

John Hancock

All U.S. locations are eligible for the John Hancock Vitality discount (with the exception of the Boston location, dedicated solely to the Hercules research study). I see many celebrities and influencers taking the scan. What if I can’t afford it?
John Hancock

Prenuvo believes that in time their scan will be covered by health insurance. Until this happens, we want to provide our customers with information about the scan and make a discount available to them should they choose to use it.

Prenuvo offers different payment options, so please feel free to connect with them to discuss your options.

What is the Prenuvo scan?
John Hancock

A Prenuvo scan is a noninvasive, injection-free, and radiation free MRI procedure. The Prenuvo scan, which uses devices cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, scans for more than 500 medical conditions, including most solid tumors which can be detected as early as stage 1, in addition to aneurysms, cysts, and more – all without radiation, in under an hour. The resulting images are then reviewed by licensed radiologists arranged by Prenuvo to create the patient report, including level of risk, contextualization, and to offer guidance if next steps are needed (e.g. to determine if diagnostic follow-up is needed).

What is Prenuvo?
John Hancock

Prenuvo is a comprehensive whole body proactive health scan using MRI that can be completed in under 1 hour, offering potentially life-saving insights (1 out of 20 patients) — with no contrast, and zero radiation.

Prenuvo makes MRI scanning for early detection of cancer, “silent killers” like aneurysms, and other diseases seamless and more widely accessible. Combining cutting-edge quantification and analysis technology with radiation-free and non-invasive full-body scans, Prenuvo’s patient-centric design is optimized to assess the body holistically and in under 60 minutes, compared with the 4-5 hours it would take to achieve this level of insight from conventional MRI scans. It looks for over 500 conditions.
