Frequently asked questions

Are there any restrictions on what I can drink on the day of the scan?

Yes. You can drink water, tea or black coffee. Depending on the scan you are taking, you will be in the MRI machine for up to 75 mins, so we recommend that you visit the restroom before going in.

Can I eat anything on the day of the scan?

We recommend that you fast for 4 hours before your scan so we can take the clearest images of your stomach, bowel, and gallbladder.

Who reads the MRI reports?

One of Prenuvo’s board-certified radiologists interprets each report. Our team consists of over 80+ actively credentialed, domestically practicing, board-certified radiologists. Each radiologist has undergone extensive training with Prenuvo to develop expertise in this unique MRI subspecialty of whole-body evaluation.

How do we report risk of findings?

Prenuvo physicians were instrumental in developing the ONCO-RADS system, which is now the standard for assessing cancer risk in Whole-Body MRI. This system helps our radiologists, care team, and external colleagues interpret and act on our findings in a structured and reliable manner. While currently only select reports include the scoring system, we are working to ensure that all reports will contain this information in the near future.

How is Prenuvo different from other MRI scans?

Prenuvo provides whole body MRIs that are safe (no radiation), fast (diagnostic-quality imaging in less than an hour), and non-invasive (no injection of harmful dye). Prenuvo invests heavily in optimized hardware and develops its own software acquisition protocols. Beyond the images Prenuvo acquires, the radiology approach at Prenuvo is informed by the fact that they are evaluating patients holistically in a screening rather than a diagnostic context.
